sentix-Special Survey Results EU rescue measures

Today, sentix - behavioral indices conducted a special survey. See what over 600 investors think about the EU rescue plan. The survey was taken on May 10th, 2010 (11am - 6pm MESZ).

Interesting to see that about 50% of all respondents don't think that the decision does mean a change for them. 38% think the effect of the measures will be a short-term one. Only 11% think the measures will have a lasting effect.

Confidence in the ECB seems to be damaged, but not as much as I thought when I set-up the survey. More than 50% of all respondents think that price stability will be challenged and bond markets may come under pressure. The biggest winner may be the equity markets, not the sovereign debt market.

Finally, there is a split vote whether the decision was "right" or not.

  1. Seems to me that people may overestimate the impact this bailout will have on inflation rates and asset prices. After all 750 billion Euro is only about 7% of EU gdp.
